The reigning National League Cy Young Award champ signed a 2-year, 62 million dollar contract with the San Francisco Giants today, 10 days before his new organization begins its regular campaign vs. his ex-franchise, the San Diego Padres. The contract features an opt-out after the 1st campaign.
Snell’s contract, like those of fellow Scott Boras clients Cody Bellinger and Matt Chapman, both of whom inked recently, provides him with a higher average annual value in exchange for less length on his deal but also gives Blake the chance to re-enter free agency after the end of the season to secure more money if he performs well.
Snell finishes a busy offseason for San Francisco, who have made the postseason only 1 time in the past 7 campaigns and aimed to bring to the team great players for an organization now led by 3-time Coach of the Year Bob Melvin.
