The Napoli boss' relationship with the club owner have deteriorated
Despite leading Napoli to their first Serie A success in over three decades, Luciano Spalletti finds himself on the verge of being axed as the team’s manager.
Spalletti’s contract expires at the end of this season and the 64-year-old had expected that the team will offer him a new deal after a glamorous campaign.
However, none of that has happened, as reports have revealed that the negotiations have frozen and the two sides are no longer on speaking terms.
Instead the board has focused on landing former boss Rafael Benitez, who managed the team from 2013 to 2015. Benitez has been out of work since last January, when he left Everton.
The Spaniard name has also been linked with Leicester and Crystal Palace.
