Veteran WR Mike Evans is leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to ink a 3-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers that is worth over 60 million dollars.
“Tampa Bay made it clear they would have loved for Evans to finish his time in the NFL with the team and potentially become just the 4th footballer in the Bucs history to spend his entire career with them and ultimately walk into Canton representing the franchise,” his agent revealed.
“Evans’ choice to leave the Buccaneers was never about money. Tampa Bay was extremely aggressive in its pursuit and offered him a huge contract, demonstrating that he is crucial for them and for what he has meant to Tampa Bay. In the end, Evans just wanted to try something new and play for a contender while he is still at the top level.”
Mike, the 7th overall draft selection 12 years ago and 1st-ever draft selection by Tampa Bay GM Jason Licht, the star wide receiver spent 12 campaigns with the organization, becoming the team’s all-time leading scorer with 662 points.
