Mike Budenholzer is the favorite of the Phoenix Suns to become their next manager, and talks are expected to happen soon toward a contract.
Phoenix dismissed Frank Vogel after 1 campaign as a boss, and a Budenholzer contract featured him working on building an assistant coaching team to bring to Phoenix.
Mike’s appointment will come with huge pressure and expectations for the franchise. The team was constructed around Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, and the only aim of the Suns was to win the championship.
Budenholzer will become the organization’s 3rd manager in 3 campaigns, after Mat Ishbia dismissed Monty Williams and Vogel in consecutive seasons. Frank had 4 campaigns left on his deal.
Mike is from Arizona, and his late father was a well-regarded high school coach there. Budenholzer triumphed with he 2021 NBA championship with Milwaukee. Mike had a 271-120 (.693) record in 5 campaigns with the Bucks and a 213-197 (.520) record in his previous seasons with the Hawks.
He is also a 2-time National Basketball Association Coach of the Year.
