Elina is a semifinalist at the Grand Slam in London.

Elina Svitolina, world number 76, defeated world number 1, Iga Swiatek, by 2:1 sets and clinched the ½ finals at the Grand Slam on grass in the UK.

The Ukrainian triumphed in the 1st set after many breaks as she converted 3 and won 7-5 after allowing her opponent to break her serve 2 times.

In the 2nd set, both Elina and Iga won 1 opponent’s serve, and the set reached a tiebreak. The world number 1 showed better nerves and won it 7-6 (5) to tie the clash.

However, nothing like that happened when everyone expected that the Polish would easily win the deciding set. Elina dominated as the player from Ukraine converted 2 breaks from 5 chances and won the set 6-2 as she didn’t allow any break chances to Swiatek.

In the ½ final, Svitolina will face world number 42, Marketa Vondrousova, that upset earlier in the day world number 4, Jessica Pegula.
