Sweden is for the 4th time bronze medalist at the Women’s World Cup after defeating co-hosts Australia 2-0 in the match for the 3rd place at Lang Park in Brisbane.

The Swedish national team – ranked 3rd in the world, received a penalty in the 28th minute after VAR showed Australia’s Clare Hunt clipped Stina Blackstenius’ heels. Fridolina Rolfö converted the penalty to give the lead in the 1st half.
The Swede’s captain Kosovare Asllani double the result in the 2nd half after a great shot from the edge of the penalty area after a fantastic counterattack.
Both nations began with the same starting 11 that played in the ½ finals, where Australia were defeated 3-1 by England and Sweden were beaten 2-1 by Spain.
England will face Spain tomorrow in the match for the gold at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Sweden have now finished third place at the Women’s World Cup more times than any other nation in the tournament’s history (4), their fifth top-three finish overall:
