Iga Swiatek took no time in dismantling her first-round opponent Zhu Lin, as the world No.1 swept past the Chinese player in a dominant fashion 6-1, 6-3.
Lin is ranked No.34 and was one of the highest-rated opponent Swiatek could have faced, but the 22-year-old showed no mercy and quickly killed the Chinese dreams.

With this victory Swiatek cements even further her status as the favorite for the title, despite the Pole not being able to surpass the 4th round in her career ever.
Jessica Pegula also progressed to the 2nd round against a much tougher opposition in the face of fellow American Lauren Davis, whom she defeated 6-2, 6-7 (8), 6-3.
Victoria Azarenka is also through as she defeated China’s Yue Yuan in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
The first big name, who fell victim was 15th-seeded Russian Liudmila Samsonova, who crashed out against Romania’s Ana Bogdan 7-6 (1), 7-6 (4).
