Тоp seed Iga Swiatek needed 52 minutes to defeat American Danielle Collins 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday evening.
Collins, ranked No 42, defeated Belgian qualifier Elise Mertens (6-4, 7-6 (6)) in the previous round.
Swiatek, who won the competition last year, will face Swiss seventh seed Belinda Bencic for a place at semifinals.
Bencic defeated Belarus’s Victoria Azarenka after coming from 6-1, 4-1 down to reach her third quarterfinal of 2023.
