World number 1 Iga Swiatek won the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha with a commanding 6-3, 6-0 win over second seed American Jessica Pegula in the final.

The Pole, who lost just five games during the tournament, captured her 12th WTA title and defended the title she won last year.

Her triumph in Doha in 2022 kickstarted her epic 37-match winning streak.
“For sure the bye helped…honestly, I don’t care how many games I won or lost, I feel like I really found my rhythm here after a tough beginning of the season,” Swiatek said.
“I could stay focused from the beginning to the end of the matches.”
Swiatek became the first player to defend a WTA Tour singles title since she won her second straight Rome title in May of last year.
The 21-year-old Swiatek will also compete at the 1000er in Dubai next week. There she will meet either Leylah Fernandez or Julia Grabher after a bye.
