Pete Alonso has made his return to the New York Mets for their Sunday game against St. Louis Cardinals after spending just 10 days on the injured list with a left wrist bone bruise and sprain.

Alonso sustained the injury on June 10, when he was hit by a fastball, thrown by the Atlanta Braves’ Charlie Morton, and was expected to be missing for around 3-4 weeks. But the 28-year-old surprised everyone, when he returned to full fitness before the estimated deadline.
“Happy that it responded well to treatment,” Alonso said Sunday before the game. “I feel excellent and I’m at 100% everything. If I’m at 100%, why wait?”
Alonso started at first base and batted fourth on Sudnay for the Mets, who lost 5 of their 8 games in his absence.
Mark Vientos took Alonso’s place in that period as he hit .178 with one homer and 5 RBIs in 16 appearances.
