Los Angeles finally found some traction at home after shaky games in Elysian Park

Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages provided the offensive firepower for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a commanding 10-0 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday. The win helped the Dodgers salvage a bit of positivity from what had been a rough homestand, where they struggled to find consistency.

Pitcher Tyler Glasnow was a force on the mound for the Dodgers, recording 10 strikeouts over eight dominant innings to secure his fourth win of the season. Despite Glasnow’s stellar performance, the Dodgers had struggled on their just-completed nine-game homestand, losing all three series and winning just three games overall. With the victory, the Dodgers improved to a modest 3-7 record since April 10.

Shohei Ohtani’s milestone home run in the third inning was a highlight of the game, as it propelled him into the MLB record books for players born in Japan with a total of 176 career home runs. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Hideki Matsui. Additionally, Andy Pages celebrated a memorable moment by hitting the first home run of his career in just his fifth game.

On the other side, the New York Mets saw their six-game winning streak come to an end as they struggled to generate offense against the Dodgers’ pitching. Despite their strong recent form, the Mets managed only seven singles in the game, failing to mount any significant threats. Nevertheless, prior to this loss, the Mets had been on an impressive 12-3 run after a slow start to the season, indicating their potential to bounce back from setbacks.
