Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa will practice today as the organization starts training camp but will not take part in 11-on-11 drills.
Miami manager Mike McDaniel today acknowledged the quarterback’s ongoing deal talks with the franchise since the beginning of the offseason. The ex-number 5 selection attended mandatory minicamp in its entirety in the past month but was absent for at least a portion of the Dolphins’ offseason program before that.
When Tua was part of the Miami organized activities, he did not take part in drills; it’s a scenario the head coach expects the team to follow in the near future.
“It’s very fluid,” Mike admitted. “We’re taking it daily; today, I believe it will be kind of like OTAs, and we’ll continue from there.”
Tua led the league in passing yards in the past campaign with a career-high 4,624 yards and 29 TDs while competing in all 18 of Miami’s matches. Tagovailoa and the Dolphins have been discussing a new deal extension since the start of the offseason, with both sides revealing that they want that to happen as soon as possible.
