The Oklahoma City Thunder secured another impressive victory, marking it as a signature win for the team. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with a remarkable 36 points as the Thunder held off the NBA-leading Boston Celtics, clinching a 127-123 win on Tuesday night and extending their winning streak to five games.
Oklahoma City has been on a hot streak, winning eight of their last nine games. In this recent stretch, they’ve notched victories against formidable opponents, including two wins against the defending champion Denver, breaking the Los Angeles Clippers’ nine-game win streak, defeating Western Conference leader Minnesota, and now, triumphing over the Celtics.
This particular win proved to be a challenging one compared to some of the previous victories. The Thunder had dominated with a 23-point win over Minnesota and a 26-point win over Denver on the road last week. Josh Giddey contributed significantly with 23 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while Chet Holmgren added 14 points, seven assists, and four blocks for the Thunder, who currently hold the league’s fourth-best record.
Despite the Celtics’ strong performance, with Kristaps Porzingis scoring 34 points and Jayson Tatum contributing 30, their six-game winning streak came to an end, as the Thunder emerged victorious, handing them only their second loss in the last twelve games.
