Toney to remain at Brentford after ban

Brentford manager Thomas Frank expressed his full belief that star player Ivan Toney’s future lies within his current club.

Toney was suspended for 8 month by the Football Asociation and, on top of that, given a £50,000 fine. He will not be eligible to play until January 17 2024.

“I’ve been in contact with him. He’s disappointed and sad about the situation,” said Frank.

“His future is with Brentford, there’s no doubt about that.”

Toney has the option to return to training in four month, meaning he can be at the training ground as early as September.

“We are waiting for the information so we know what we can do. What he’s allowed to do, especially for the first four months,” added Frank.

“He’s made some mistakes, but we need to be there, and want to be there, for him and help him. We just need to know what we are allowed to do.”
