Elite Turkish team Trabzonspor was ordered to compete in 6 matches without supporters as punishment by the country’s football federation for violent clashes on the field after a Superlig match vs. Fenerbahce.
The club must also pay almost 100,000 dollars fine.
Turkish police arrested 12 fans on March 17 after the on-field problems. Trabzonspor supporters charged onto the pitch after the final whistle as Fenerbahce celebrated their 3-2 victory.
Some Fenerbahce footballers hit back at the home supporters who kicked or punched them, and videos of the incidents were watched around the world.
2 Fenerbahce footballers Can Egribayat and Jayden Quinn Oosterwolde, were suspended for 1 game.
The clashes happened not long ago after the now ex-president of top-flight team Ankaragucu was arrested for punching an official after a game, which caused the Turkish Football Federation to suspend matches for a short period of time.
