The football governing body began probe of the incident 2 days ago and today they revealed that they find what the defender did to be violation of their rules and that he will be suspended 2 matches for that.
Merih netted both goals in the 2-1 victory to secure his country a place in the ¼ finals, though he will now miss Turkey’s clash vs. the Netherlands tomorrow.
If his country wins that match, the defender would also not be able to play in the ½ final vs. either England or Switzerland, who will also play tomorrow. If the Dutch national men’s team eliminates his country in the ¼ final, Merih will serve his suspension in the next competitive match after the Euro 2024.
