Spain came out on top in their Group A clash against Scotland on home soil with two late goals to secure a much needed win on Thursday night.
The home team was by far the dominant force throughout the match, having most of the possession and creating the more meaningful chances.
But regardless of that, they were unable to break the deadlock and nearly suffered a heart-breaking moment when Scot McTominay found the back of the net in the 60th minute only for his goal to be disallowed by VAR.

After breathing a sigh of relief the Spaniards quickly got back on track and Alvaro Morata, a man in fine form, carved the Scots defense open with a fine finish in the 73th minute.
The visitors were trying to fight back, but just fell short and minutes before full-time Spain pounced on the counter attack as substitute Oihan Sancet made it 2-0 and put the game beyond Scotland’s dream.
That put an end to Scotland’s perfect run, but they still sit 1st with 15 points and remain red-hot favorites for qualification. Spain remain 2nd with 12 points with Norway breathing down their neck with 10.
