The two nations received a huge boost last week after Turkey withdraw from the bid in order to focus on Euro 2032, which pretty much paved the way for them.
The formal decision was made official on Tuesday in Nyon, Switzerland after all the bids were taken into consideration.
It is still unknown whether all of the 5 countries – England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland – will get a free pass for the event. According to the Independent, it is highly unlikely UEFA to award five automatic places for the tournament.
Speaking after the news was confirmed, FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham said: “We’re delighted. It’s been three years hard work to get this point. Fantsatic for us, for the country, the home nations and Ireland.”
“We worked very hard to put together a really strong bid and we think that’s why we ended up unopposed.”
