Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has committed his future to the club by signing a new five-year contract, securing his stay until 2029. Emery, 52, has transformed Villa since his arrival from Villarreal in October 2022, when the team was languishing in 17th place in the Premier League.
Under Emery’s leadership, Villa achieved a remarkable turnaround, finishing seventh in his first season and securing a fourth-place finish this campaign, which guarantees them a spot in next season’s Champions League.

“I am very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club,” said Emery, who still had three years left on his previous contract. “There’s a great chemistry in Aston Villa. And the element of the fans’ support also makes the difference to feel like home. We are really excited to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams.”
Emery, formerly the manager of Sevilla and Arsenal, also guided Villa to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League this season, marking their first European campaign in 13 years. Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris expressed his satisfaction with the new contract, saying, “We are building something special here at Aston Villa with Unai at its core and we are delighted that he has signed a new deal with the club until 2029. As we move into our historic, 150th anniversary year, there is a lot to look forward to with Unai at the helm.”
The extension highlights the club’s confidence in Emery’s vision and leadership as they aim to build on their recent successes and continue their progress both domestically and in Europe.
