USA advances to WWC knockouts after goalless draw vs. Portugal

The U.S. national women’s team finished 2^nd place in Group E and moves forward to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup 1/8 finals after a 0-0 draw against Portugal today.

The Portuguese had a chance to win in the match’s final minutes and grab 2nd place, but Ana Capeta hit the post, and USWNT survived to finish 2^nd and advance further in the tournament.

The USA will play against the winner of Group G in Melbourne during the weekend in the round of 16, as almost certainly that will be Sweden, as the Scandinavian nation needs only a point vs. the last place Argentina to finish 1^st.
