The U.S. men are advancing to the ½ finals at the Olympics, after winning in overtime to get through the ¼ finals today.
Quinn Hughes notched in the OT to send the U.S. past Sweden 2-1, this after the Americans gave up an evening goal to Mika Zibanejad with less than 2 minutes until the end of the 3rd period.
Dylan Larkin deflected Jack Hughes’ shot for the only U.S. goal during the regular time.

After Canada also won its match earlier today after a lot of drama, the chances remain that the final could be between 2 North American countries at the end of the weekend.
The USA will play against Slovakia in 1 of the ½ finals on Friday. The other ½ final will be between Canada and Finland.
The U.S. is the 2nd seed, while its opponent in the semifinals, Slovakia, is the 3rd seed.
The American team has been led in scoring by captain Auston Matthews with 3 goals and 2 assists. The Maple Leafs superstar will need to be at his best level until the end of the tournament to be able to help his country win the gold medal.
