Christian Pulisic’s 2024 campaign may have come to an early halt following confirmation of a right calf muscle tear, AC Milan announced on Monday. The injury is expected to keep the U.S. international forward out until early January.
Pulisic sustained the injury during the first half of Milan’s 2-1 loss to Atalanta on Friday after a tough tackle from Mario Pašalić. He limped off the field and underwent an MRI, which confirmed the severity of the damage. A follow-up scan is scheduled for next week.

The forward’s absence means he will miss Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade, along with Serie A matches against Genoa (Dec. 15) and Verona (Dec. 20). While Sky Italia suggests Pulisic could return for the league game against Roma on Dec. 29, The Athletic reports his focus may be on recovering in time for the Supercoppa Italia semifinal against Juventus on Jan. 3.
Pulisic’s injury is a significant blow to AC Milan, which has been struggling in Serie A. After a defeat to Atalanta, Milan sits seventh in the league, trailing leaders Atalanta by 12 points.
This season, Pulisic has been Milan’s standout attacking performer, leading the team with eight goals and five assists. His absence leaves a noticeable void in the Rossoneri lineup as they look to regain form in a challenging campaign.
