The Americans lifted their third consecutive title

Tyler Adams and Gio Reyna’s goals propelled the U.S. men’s national team to a 2-0 victory over Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League final in Arlington, Texas, securing their third consecutive title.

Adams struck in the 45th minute with a sensational shot from 35 yards out, finding the upper left corner of the net, stunning the Mexican team. This goal marked Adams’ second in 38 appearances for the U.S., with his first against Mexico in 2018. Despite his recent return from injury, Adams made a significant impact, making his first start for the U.S. since December 2022.

Reyna extended the lead in the 63rd minute with a well-placed shot from the upper left side of the box, capitalizing on a setup by Christian Pulisic, who demonstrated superb dribbling skills. Pulisic’s effort forced a save from Guillermo Ochoa earlier in the match, highlighting the intense competition.

The game wasn’t without controversy as a penalty initially awarded to Mexico’s Santiago Gimenez in the 72nd minute was overturned after video review, with Gimenez receiving a yellow card for embellishment.

Additionally, the match faced interruptions due to homophobic chants from the pro-Mexican crowd during U.S. goal kicks, leading to delays in the 88th and 96th minutes.

This victory solidifies the U.S. team’s dominance over Mexico in recent matchups, maintaining a seven-game unbeaten streak since their last defeat in 2019.
