The Catalans are now six points behind Girona, who have a game in hand

Barcelona couldn’t find a way to win for a third game in a row, finishing 1-1 against Valencia in La Liga.

Last weekend the reigning champions were demolished by the surprising league leader Girona before falling short against Antwerp in the Champions League in their mid-week clash in Europe.

The dropped two points at Mestalla leave Barca six points away from the top, but Girona and Real Madrid may increase their lead with their games in hand this weekend.

After a balanced first half, Barcelona scored first ten minutes after the break. De Jong sent a good pass to Rafinha, who passed to Joao Felix and the Portuguese couldn’t miss an empty net.

In the 70th minute, Valencia managed to equalize the score. After a well-developed attack on the right side, a high cross was sent into the box, where Barcelona’s defense failed to intervene well, the ball found its way to Hugo Guillaume and he beat Peña with a phenomenal strike from the edge of the box.

In the 82nd minute, Barca missed a golden opportunity for a second goal. Ferran Torres passed to Rafinha, who broke away, but was selfish not to find a teammate.
