Max Verstappen clinched yet another victory on Sunday at the British Grand Prix, which was Red Bull’s 11th straight win, underlining the team’s dominance.
With it they equal a record set from McLaren in 1988 and have a chance to better it next time in Hungary.
In the post race, the Dutchman took a moment to heap praise on his team’s spectacular achievement.
“Of course, very happy that we won again,” he said. “I mean, 11 wins in a row for the team, I think that’s pretty incredible, but it wasn’t straightforward today.”
“Once I’d passed Lando, it took me a few laps to cool down the tyres, and after that I think we had good pace,” added Verstappen. “I think the last 10, 15 laps on that stint, we were nine seconds in the lead again, which I think was very good.”
Verstappen registered his 6th consecutive win, a feat achieved only by 4 other drivers in the past – Alberto Ascari, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg. The record, jointly held by Ascari and Vettel is 9 and in the current situation it looks more than likely that Verstappen would top that as well.
