Max Verstappen started his Formula 1 title defense with a convincing victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Dutchman started first and maintained the lead in the span of all 57 laps.
Second was Sergio Perez, wrapping up 1-2 win for Red Bull. Despite the dominant performance, the world champion said there are still elements on the car to be fixed.
“I made a very good first stint where I opened up my lead and then looked after my tyres because you never know what’s going to happen in the race. We wanted to make sure we had the right tyres in good condition. Of course I’m very happy to finally win here,” said Verstappen after his first victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
“I didn’t have any big problems during the race, just little things I wanted to fine-tune. I think we have a good race car, I’m sure we will deal with these problems in the next races.” the Dutchman said.
