Max Verstappen was beaten by the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz in qualifying, but that does not seem to bother the reigning champion too much.
Verstappen stressed that Red Bull are in the right place in terms of race pace and the Dutchman is confident they can beat Ferrari on Sunday.
“We had a good day, I think, but already from yesterday [Ferrari] hit the ground running very strongly, and that’s fine.” he said.
“From our side, I think we improved our car nicely today, but then we just missed out in qualifying, but the margins are very tight. Tomorrow, hopefully we can show again that we’re good on tyres, and that’s where we want to be quick.”
Verstappen is heading into the Italian Grand Prix aiming for a 10th consecutive win, which has never been done before by any driver.
