Max Verstappen described the feeling of winning a 3rd consecutive title as ‘incredible’.
The Dutchman did not have it all his way on Saturday’s Sprint as the McLaren of Oscar Piastri proved too strong of a challenge. However, all Verstappen needed was P6 and with Sergio Perez premature exit, he was crowned champion before crossing the line.
“Unbelievable guys,” said Verstappen on his cool-down lap. “I don’t know what to say. An incredible year. Thank you for providing me with such a car. It’s been a pleasure so far this year. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone here at the track, back at the factory for putting all the effort in.”

Verstappen joins an elite club of drivers, who have won the title 3 times – Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna. And the Dutchman is only 26 years old.
He starts from pole position for tomorrow’s race – his 10th of the year and the newly crowned champion will be looking for his 14th victory thus far, his 49th overall in his career.
