The Dutchman was flawless despite late charge from Hamilton

Max Verstappen secured his 50th career win at the Circuit of Americas in an action-packed race on Sunday.

The Dutchman started from P6 on the grid, but solid start saw him dispatch the Mercedes of Russell and the two Ferraris soon followed suit.

An aggressive strategy from Red Bull saw their No.1 driver under-cut Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen quickly crawled onto the back of Lando Norris, passing him midway through the race for P1.

Lewis Hamilton opted for an alternative strategy as he put on the harder compound for his second stint, which made him use the medium in the last, enabling him to attack and pass Norris for 2nd.

The 7-time world champion even had a sniff at victory as he closed the gap to Verstappen down to under 2 seconds, but unfortunately for him there were just not enough laps.

Carlos Sainz finished in fourth with a solid performance, ahead of Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc, who was the only one from the front-runners to try a one-stop strategy.

With his victory Verstappen now takes his tally to 15 for the season, equaling the record, set by him last year. He is also only a win behind Allain Prost in the all-time rankings.
