Max Verstappen will be aiming at the podium places at minimum and maybe even victory in the Miami Grand Prix.
That’s what the 25-year old stated after a dismal qualifying, which saw him qualify only ninth, having not set time in Q3.
Verstappen abandoned his first run due to driver’s error and the second one was compromised because of red flag, cause by Charles Leclerc‘s crash.
“Well, yeah, clearly… I mean that was definitely a mistake of mine, trying to put it on the limit, and then I made a mistake and had to abort the lap.” he said
“Then you rely on a bit of luck as well, that there is not going to be a red flag [at the end], and that can happen on a street circuit – [so I’m] just a bit upset with myself.”
Verstappen will be eager to climb up the field as quickly as possible as his teammate Sergio Perez took full advantage of his misfortune and will start from P1. After victory in Baku the Mexican is only 6 points behind the Dutchman and victory in Miami will guarantee him a lead in the Drivers Standings.
