Marketa Vondrousova clinched the Wimbledon trophy after an impressive display, which saw her overcome last year’s runner-up Ons Jabeur in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday.

With her victory, Vondrousova wrote history as she became the first unseeded woman to lift the prestigious trophy.

The 24-year-old was trailing in both sets, but rekindled her composure to win the last 4 games of the first and last 3 in the 2nd to close out the match.
It was an incredible journey for the Czech, who before the event had managed to register only one win at the All England Club.
On the other hand, Jabeur will leave the court with resounding bitterness as the Tunisian succumbed to her 3rd straight Grand Slam final loss. That way, she became the first Arab and North African woman to reach that far.
