With six players out for the first game of 2023, the Warriors needed other players on the team to step up and Looney answered the call.
The 26-year-old’s impressive performance included the game-winning putback in the second overtime as time expired. However, Looney revealed that knowing how much time was left on the clock wasn’t on his mind.

“I rushed the first one — I didn’t think I had that much time, but I seem to have more time, so I took my time on the second one and I was able to make it,” Looney said.
“It was just a feeling, like if the first [shot] I rushed really quick and I just realized that everybody wasn’t like panicking or celebrating, so I knew I had more time to go back up.”
The Golden State will now look to extend their five-game winning streak to six against Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at Chase Center.
