He signed a 7-season, 45.5 million dollar extension with the franchise from the capital.
The forward extension starts with the 2024-2025 campaign.
The Toronto-born player was picked 16th overall at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft out of the Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers. After that, he played only for the Capitals in his 11 campaigns until now.
The Canadian played only 33 matches in the past campaign after undergoing off-season surgery a year ago for an ACL tear. After his return, he notched 13 goals and gave 9 assists.
He has appeared in 680 matches in his NHL career, as he has scored 128 goals and given 167 assists. Tom was an All-Star in 2022 and triumphed in the Stanley Cup with the Caps in 2018.
