Wembanyama doesn’t amaze but triumphs in his debut

Victor Wembanyama debuted at the summer league as all eyes were on him on Friday night.

The 1^st overall pick at the 2023 NBA Draft played vs. the Charlotte Hornets, and the 2^nd overall pick, Brandon Miller and Spurs, won 76-68 in front of a fully sold venue at the Thomas & Mack Center.

“It was a magical night,” the French 1^st overall pick shared after his debut in a fully crowded news conference room. “It was an honor to wear the Spurs jersey for the 1^st time. It’s a privilege.

“Overall, I’m happy that we triumphed in the match. That’s the best way to begin your journey. Honestly, I didn’t really know what I was playing in my debut. I’m trying to learn for my next match.”

Wembanyama also added that he has so much to learn and that this was the 1^st time he was on the court with his new teammates.
