The number 1 pick at the 2023 NBA Draft shared with L’Equipe newspaper that he won’t be part of the France roster at the World Cup in the summer because he wants to protect his still-growing body.
Victor claimed that this decision was not easy, but he also shared that it is permanent.
The World Cup will start at the end of August 25th and end on September 10th as 3 countries will host the tournament – Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
The new San Antonio Spurs center added that he decided “on his own” after speaking with his entourage and medical experts. Wembanyama informed his teammates from the national team and the head coach about missing the World Cup over the weekend.
