Russell Westbrook, who is a 9-time NBA All-Star, has inked with the Sacramento Kings, the media announced today.
Russell and Sacramento discuss a potential deal during the offseason as he waited during the free agency, and now he will return to the NBA for his 18th campaign. The former MVP will be presented as a new addition of the franchise after a few days as his contract is for 1-year and is worth veteran minimum 3.6 million dollars.
Westbrook must provide the Kings much-needed backcourt depth as a point guard, as he could help both from the bench or from the 1st minute on the court. In his 1st campaign as Sacramento GM, Perry has claimed that his goal is to make the team play hard and never to give up – something that Russell represented during his whole career.
In 75 matches and 36 starts for the Nuggets in the past campaign, Russell averaged almost 14 points, over 6 assists, and almost 5 boards, and almost 1.5 steals per game while shooting almost 45% from the field. Russell will turn 37 next month.
