Williams has had a long 3-decade spell at Chicago, dating back to 1992, when he was a scout for the club. He was then appointed as general manager, before becoming vice president in 2012.
Hahn took over as general manager from Williams in 2012 and has been a part of the franchise since 2000.
Williams and Hahn helped Chicago to the 2005 World Series title. The White Sox also won the AL Central in 2008 and made the playoffs in 2020 and 2021, but the club has struggled severely in the past couple of years.
“While we have enjoyed successes as an organization and were optimistic heading into the competitive window of this rebuild, this year has proven to be very disappointing for us all on many levels,” White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a release.
“This has led me to the conclusion that the best decision for the organization moving forward is to make a change in our baseball department leadership.”
