Sweden’s Filip Gustavsson narrowly outdueled Jake Oettinger in a battle between two of the best goaltenders in the NHL this season to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 2-1 shootout win over the Dallas Stars at Xcel Energy Center on Friday night.

After the Stars Jason Robertson and the Wild’s Frederick Gaudreau traded shootout scores, Matt Boldy beat Jake Oettinger with a backhand shot and “Gus Bus” stopped Wyatt Johnson’s attempt to seal the win.
The Swedish goalie Gustavsson, who finished with 29 saves, also stopped Dallas’ Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin in the shootout to set up Boldy’s chance to score the go-ahead tally.
It was a huge victory for the Wild as they improved to 2-2-1 on their lengthy homestand.
Minnesota went to overtime for the third time in four games. The Wild have not won in regulation in 12 games.
Mats Zuccarello snapped the scoreless struggle with his 20th goal of the season, scoring for Minnesota on the power play with 13:23 left in the third period.
Dallas captain Jamie Benn netted the tying goal four minutes later after taking a pass from Johnson and firing at a tough angle past Gustavsson for his third goal in the last four games and his 22nd of the season.
The Stars host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday while the Wild are at home against Nashville Predators on Sunday.
