Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto had a stellar World Series debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers, leading them to a 4-2 win over the New York Yankees and giving his team a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-seven series. Dodger Stadium came alive with three home runs from the Dodgers, holding off a late Yankees rally to secure the victory.

Early in the game, both teams quickly got on the scoreboard as the Dodgers’ Tommy Edman and the Yankees’ Juan Soto exchanged solo home runs. In the third inning, the Dodgers extended their lead when Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman launched back-to-back homers, making it 4-1.
Yamamoto, who joined the Dodgers last December on a record-breaking $325 million contract, allowed only one hit—Soto’s homer—and dominated until the seventh inning. The Yankees struggled offensively, with Aaron Judge going hitless and striking out three times, until a late push in the ninth inning when Soto’s single and a wild pitch helped bring him home, trimming the lead to 4-2. Jazz Chisholm Jr. added a single, and Anthony Rizzo loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch, but Anthony Volpe’s strikeout and Jose Trevino’s flyout ended the game.
A concerning moment came in the seventh inning when Dodgers’ designated hitter Shohei Ohtani exited with a left shoulder injury during a failed stolen base attempt. The series now shifts to New York, with game three scheduled for Monday at Yankee Stadium.
