Isiah Kiner-Falefa was the star man as he hit a game-ending single with one out in the 10th inning. Anthony Volpe hit into a double play in the eight, while Aaron Judge did so in the ninth to help the Yankees avoid a fourth consecutive loss.
DJ LeMahieu had and RBI double in the first and tied the game in the 7th as he homered off Padres’ Michael Wacha.
For San Diego Fernando Tatis Jr. homered for second game in a row and 9th in this season. Ha-Seong Kim hit an RBI single in the 7th as the Padres managed only one hit in the first 6 2/3 innings.
Clay Holmes retired Tatis on a soft grounder that was initially called and infield, but later was overruled after being reviewed on replay.
Wacha allowed two runs and five hits before switching with Martinez for the final 2 1/3 innings.
