New York Yankees right-hander Frankie Montas will undergo surgery on his throwing shoulder next week, MLB club’s manager Aaron Boone announced Wednesday.
Tough blow for the Yankees as it’s likely they lose Frankie Montas for the season. Seemed like they disregarded his shoulder last year at the deadline. They missed out on Castillo, and had to make a move. #MLB #Yankees pic.twitter.com/VvOHJ0EmtZ

The surgery is scheduled for Tuesday.
“The best case is he’d be back late in the season, but we’re really gonna know a lot after (Tuesday) when (the surgeons) know specifically what they have to do in there,” Boone said.
“If it’s just a scope, there’s potential he could be back late in the year.”
Montas, who turns 30 next month, was acquired from the Oakland Athletics on Aug 1.
