Anthony Volpe had a procedure to repair a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, as he is doubtful for the beginning of the new 2026 campaign, and further complicates the NY Yankees’ plan at shortstop.
Anthony underwent the procedure 2 days ago – less than 7 days after the end of his unsatisfying 2025 campaign. The MLB franchise from the Big Apple is yet to confirm the news about his procedure.
Anthony sustained his shoulder problem at the beginning of May and was playing through the pain during the season. The ex-top prospect has 2 cortisone shots – 1 in July and 1 in the past month, but the news was optimistic that he might avoid the procedure.
His future with the Yankees is doubtful after he struggled throughout the campaign. The ex-Gold Glove winner had 19 errors, even for the 3rd-most in the majors. Volpe went 5-for-26 in the Yankees’ 7 playoff matches, striking out on 16 occasions.
