The New Orleans Pelicans will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA play-in tournament, but unfortunately for them they will be without their star player Zion Williamson, who is still nursing a hamstring injury.
Willimson recovery is expected to last couple of more weeks, meaning he is due to miss not only the play-in match, but also to the first round should the Pelicans proceed there.
“From what I’m told, the Pelicans believe he’s not even close, to getting back on the floor,” said the Athletics Shams Charania.
“There’s no expectation from the Pelicans that he will be on the floor at any point in the first round of the playoffs.”
Williamson last featured on January 2 and has played only 29 games this season, missing all of Pelican’s last 55 matches. He is no stranger to heavy injuries as he had missed the entire 2021-22 season and has registered only 114 outings in his last four seasons with the New Orleans team.
