German fourth seed Alexander Zverev navigated challenging conditions to defeat Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan 6-3 7-5 on Thursday, securing a spot in the Miami Open semi-finals.
Zverev capitalized on Marozsan’s serve, converting three of his seven break-point opportunities while effectively fending off the two break points he faced. With an impressive 80% first serve points won, Zverev maintained his dominance throughout the match, advancing to the semi-finals without dropping a set.
Despite the windy conditions, Zverev faced stiff competition from Marozsan, who made his Miami debut and previously secured top-10 upsets over Holger Rune and Alex de Minaur on his journey to the quarter-finals.
Sealing his victory with a break after unleashing a brilliant backhand down the line, Zverev’s triumph marks his return to the Miami Open semi-finals for the first time since finishing as the runner-up in 2018.
In the semi-finals, Zverev awaits the winner of the match between Spanish top seed Carlos Alcaraz and Bulgarian 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov.
