The winning goal in the match was scored at the beginning of the 2nd half when Marcos Llorente, who replaced Nahuel Molina at halftime, netted in the 47th minute to give the home team the lead.
Caglar Soyuncu, who replaced Koke in the 66th minute, received a direct red card only 4 minutes later, and Simeone’s side needed to finish the match with 1 fewer player on the pitch, but despite that, they kept its 1-goal lead and secured the 3 points.
Atletico Madrid are in 3rd place with 38 points after 18 matches – 7 points behind Real Madrid and Girona.
Sevilla are in 15th place with 16 points after 18 games as the team lost 3 of their last 4 matches in the league and are only 3 points ahead of the relegation zone.
