Alderson, who has been with the Mets since 2011, is now with the team as an advisor with Cohen becoming more and more involved in day-to-day operations.
That includes Cohen spending every Thursday in Mets meetings and not as his hedge fund.
Originally hired to replace Omar Minaya as the general manager, Alderson has seen his role grow over the years.
He took a leave of absence from the team in 2018 due to a recurrence of cancer and announced he would not return to the Mets in the same position.
