The Portuguese starlet will remain with the Citizens

Manchester City have announced that Bernando Silva has extended his contract until 2026.

Silva was an integral part of City’s Treble success last campaign and many feared he might follow the route chosen by Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez.

Both Barcelona and PSG have shown keen interest on the 29-year-old, but eventually he has decided to stay at the Etihad.

“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City and I’m delighted to extend my time here.” Silva said after the announcement.

“Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it’s exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion.”

“Success makes you want even more, and this Club gives me that opportunity to keep on winning. I love the manager, my team-mates and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years.”

Silva is first choice in midfield again this season as he played the full 90 minutes against Arsenal in the Community Shield and in the Premier League’s opener against Burnley, before missing out on the 1-0 win over Newcastle with muscle injury.
