Mackenzie Weegar notched and had 2 assists as goalie Sam Montembeault stopped 23 shots for the Team Canada victory.
The Canadian national men’s hockey team scored 2 goals in each period. Lawson Crouse netted the 1st goal against Latvia less than a minute after the beginning of the clash. The other goals were notched by Scott Laughton, Samuel Blais, Joe Veleno, and Jack McBain.

Canada is in Group B with the Czech Republic, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, and Latvia. The first 4 teams in the group will advance to the World Championship playoffs as the last-placed team will be relegated to the WCH IA.
Canada will face next Slovenia on Sunday.
