Zach's team Purdue was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament, and he didn't answer any calls after that.

However, this can’t be a reason to forget how great of a season Zach Edey had.

The big man from Canada dominated in the regular season and was chosen as The Associated Press men’s college basketball player of the year. However, from 58 judges, only 1 didn’t vote for the Canadian as he voted for Trayce Jackson-Davis from Indiana.

“The season ended in disappointment, which sucks, but it’s always nice to win individual accolades,” Edey said. “It validates your work a little bit. I’ve seen my game grow yearly in the last three years I’ve played here. So AP player of the year is a great feeling; it just stinks the way the season ended.”

Purdue, 1st seeded, was shocked by the 16th seed Fairleigh Dickinson in the 1st round during March Madness as only one more team was eliminated as 1st seed in the first round – Virginia back in 2018.
