The defenceman from Austria had 22 points (3 goals, 19 assists) in 46 matches for EHC Kloten in Switzerland’s hockey league.
David, the top-picked defenceman in this draft edition, matched Thomas Vanek as the highest-picked Austrian ever.
Montreal goalie, and ex-5th overall pick, Carey Price, took the podium to share the franchise selection but backed out after forgetting Reinbacher’s name.
“Boy, that was humiliating. Sorry, David….. Reinbacher,” the goaltender shared after the draft on social media.
One season after the Canadian team finished last in the league and picked Juraj Slafkovsky 1st overall at the 2022 NHL Draft, Montreal missed the postseason again past campaign and finished 28th with a 31-45-6 record.
